God’s Love: Our Choice

God has great things in store—and His promises are for everyone. The Lord doesn’t have favorites; He loves all His children and wants everyone to come to know Him. He wants to spend eternity with us. He has created each of us uniquely for one purpose: to have a relationship with Him. That was God’s great dream.

When God created Adam and Eve, He put them in a garden. He wanted to come down in the cool of the evening to walk and talk with them. He would be their God and they would be His people, made in His image for relationship with Him.

Sadly, we messed up that plan. We did things we knew were wrong, things God had told us not to do. But we went ahead and did them anyway because He gave us free will. He doesn’t want to take that back, because our free will is part of His plan. God is not interested in robots; He wants people to willingly love Him and be in relationship with Him. If we want to turn away from that, we can.

This is clearly illustrated with the Israelites in the wilderness. They were coming out of slavery in Egypt and about to enter the Promised Land, yet they became fearful and turned back. They had a choice, and they chose to disobey. They chose to not believe God, that He would be with them and protect them, and they turned away.

Perhaps you feel far from God, and that your life is spiralling out of control. The first thing you need to realize is this wasn’t God’s will for you. If you feel that your problems are bigger than you are, don’t be angry at God. Instead, understand that He is reaching out to you through all this. Don’t turn your back on the One who can bring you love and acceptance, and who can restore you.

God wants to set you on a broad place, to protect you, and to be your all in all. If you want that loving relationship with Him, simply say, “I believe.” Ask His forgiveness, and forgive those who have offended you. Lay aside your pride and hurts, and turn to Him with all your heart.

The Lord promises in Jeremiah 29:13, And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.

As you seek Him, He will come and guide you. He will set you free and heal you. He will give you a hope and a future. It can all be yours if you just ask and receive His love. God bless you!
