How’s Your Thought Doing?

May all my thoughts be pleasing to him, for I rejoice in the Lord. — Psalms 104:34

Honestly, all my thoughts are not always pleasing to Him–my God and my Savior. Everyday, I don’t please Him because there are times when my thoughts would drift and I inadvertently think of something unpleasant: envious thoughts, greedy thoughts and yes, lustful thoughts.

Its a tedious struggle. Tedious because I know it is wrong and the Bible says so. The Word also admonishes me to think of good thoughts. Philippians 4:8 tells this to us, “And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.”

Fix your thoughts. Does it mean its broken? Probably. The real meaning I believe is akin to sometthing like screwing your thoughts in, making it permanent, bolt in. This means that we should not steer away from positive, cheerful and nice thoughts. Thoughts that please God.

Going back to Psalms104:34, what may help us to always have pleasing thoughts is to simply rejoice in the Lord. When we are happy and secure in the love and grace of Jesus, we may not have time to think of unpleasant things for God is enough.
