I Ain’t Down Yet!

Greetings, as we move into Spring and new life.

The title,  I Ain’t Down Yet, is from the broadway show, “The Unsinkable Molly Brown,” and I want to key off that to a historical and spiritual reality and tenet of the Christian faith, that is the hallmark of this Easter season: RESURRECTION!

Resurrection is the supreme proof of the power of God.

When Jesus Christ was on that cross everything was done to make sure that He was dead. After they had nailed Him, hands and feet, on to the cross, to make sure that He was dead they thrust the spear into His heart. When He was taken down from the cross and put into the tomb, the high priest said: “Take a guard and make sure,” so that great stone was rolled against the tomb and the official seal was put on the stone. Then they mounted a guard of soldiers. What more could be done to make sure that He was dead? Well, everything that men and devils could do—and then, over all that, it says: “God raised this Jesus to life!” (Acts 2:32).

Dead man walking! He wasn’t down yet, and never will be.

Death and life are in the hands of God. Not Mohammed, Buddha, or any other faux god of the hour. That is the birthright of the child of God and something that you and I should know now:”Take hold of eternal life, to which you were called.” (1 Timothy 6.12)

Some time ago, I came to the realization that there were sides of my personality, character and even physical being including, Menier’s disease, vertigo, heart failure and cancer that I hadn’t taken hold of and that I needed to trade off for His life. (Insert your own list)

Hence, the only reason I am still on this earth is because I fully recognize that “It is in Him I (we) live and move, have our being and exist.” (Acts 17.28)

And that it is eternal…not just on this planet.

Happy Resurrection!
