How do you know the will of God for your life? Is there a formula to follow? A sign to wait for? No! Here is what the Bible say:

Romans 12:2, “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.”

It is very clear in this passage. Before you will know the will of God, there is a pre-requisite–being transformed by the renewing of your mind. The next sentence sums it all. The keyword here is the adverb “then”.

This word concludes that we can test and approve what God’s will is. Logically, if we can test and approve something, we should have been able (1) to see it, (2) gain knowledge or (experience it). But then, something must take place first before we can have renewal of our mind, we need to receive Jesus as our personal LORD and Savior. We will not have true renewal of the mind without the saving knowledge of Jesus.

We must also see the promise in this scripture–that the will of God is “good, pleasing and perfect.” Can you believe that? I sure can. God always has the best intentions for us. We are just blinded by this world from seeing God’s will. That is why we have a lot of frustration and bitterness. It is hard to live a life when you don’t know what your purpose is.
